UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS
AWARDS FOR 1920.
The Senate of the University of New Zealand met to-day and awarded the Senior Scholarships for the year 1920 as follow:—
Winifred M. E. Harding (Victoria), in English; Allan T. M'Naughton (Otago), ■in Latin; William M. Smith (Auckland), in French; George F. Wood (Victoria), in Economics; William, M. Ryburn (Otago), in History; John Hubbard {Otago), in Philosophy; Donald H. Black (Canterbury) in Mathematics; Frederick H. M'Dowall (Otago), in Physics; Harold J. Finlay (Otago), in Chemistry; Edward W. Bennett' (Canterbury), in Botany; Mary E. Joyce (Victoria), in Zoology. Additional scholarships for the year 1920 were awarded to the following:~ Robert W. Moir (Otago), in French; Leila E. D. Porter (Auckland), in History.
A special war scholarship was awarded to tho following:— Robert H. Espiner (Victoria) in Latin. The John Tinline Scholarship for the year 1920 was awarded to Mona S. Woodhead (Otago).
Further awards were made as follow:—
Tho Postgraduate Scholarship in Arts to Beatrice A. Wilson. Auckland Univer. sity College.
The Engineering Travelling Scholarship to Ronald J. Beckley, 8.E., Canterbury College.
Tho Medical Travelling Scholarship to 0. M. Beva,n-Brown, M.A., University of Otago.
Free passages were awarded to I. L. G. Sutherland, M.A., Victoria .University College; Catherine Hog.c. ' M.A., University of Otago; Esther M. North, 8.A., Victoria University College; and L. H. Ker, M.A., Auckland University College. .:, ' •
