PATRIOTIC APPEALS

'EX-MAYOR- S FUNDS CLOSED.

Various funds initiated by Mr. J. P. Luko,. ex-Mayor of Wellington, in connection with patriotic appeals during- the war havo been closed,

To the War Relief Association Mr. Luke has forwarded the unexpended balances of three of tho funds, as follow:—Mayor's War Distress Fund, £2335 9s 3d; Mayor's Patriotic Fund, £87 13s Id; Wounded Soldiers. Sailors, and Dependents' Fund, £231 5s 2d. Tho following sums havo been sont to the British Rod Cross Society and Order of St. John :—Soldiers' Christmas Dinner. Fund. £113 14s 9d ; Soldiers' Club Furnishing' Fund, £5 3s 6d. The War Funds Department has approved of the allocations made by the exMayor, consequently the funds are closed.
