ASHBURTON, 12th May. The Ashburton County Racing Club's Meeting opened in fine weather, on a fast track. The totalisator handled £16,839 10s, against £11,395 10s for the corresponding day last year. Following are further of the racing:— Selma Trot Handicap, of 150 soys; one mile and a-half.—George the Fourth, limit, 1; Beau Nash, limit, 2; Enniswood, limit, 3., Also started: Kodel limit, Meddler limit, Authority limit, Edward Harwin limit, Latona limit, Ivy Mac limit, Big Chief limit, Lady Trafalgar 24yds behind, Green Ribbon. (?), Dolly Doyle 36yds behind, Red Cross 60yds behind, Wild Briar 96yds behind. Won easily. Time, 3min 38 l-ssec.

Longbeach Handicap, of 150 soys; six furlongs.—Pit Prop, 8.4, 1; Marauder, 8.3, 2; Algidus, 9.0, 3. Also started: High Heels 8.8, Horatins 7.13, Demonstrate 7.13, Kilbarry 7.i3, Headlong 6.12, Cleveland 6.10. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin 14 2-ssec.

Grove Farm Handicap, of 200 boys ;. six furlongs.—Castellan, 7.7, 1; Killowen, 9.2, 2; Jazz, 7.6; 3. Also started: Murihiku 8.6, Counter Attack 7.13, Link Up 7.11, Miss Camouflage 6.12, Sleepy Head 6.11. Won by a neck. Time, lmin 13 2-ssec.
