CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
COMING EVENTS.
The interest being taken locally in cross, country running this season is likely to be further stimulated by the feet that the New Zealand Cross-country Championship will bo hckt in Wellington this year. A subcommittee has been'set "up to select a course for the event, and members of the various clubs aro displaying much keenness to place Wellington in the premier position. The hope is cxpressqd that the Now Zealand Council will consider the question of xa banner or a, trophy of some description for the championship as this it is thought, would tend to make for more keenness. Tho Provincial Championship, after which the Wellington team is selected, promises t<j bo a. great success and another. event that will, shortly beplated before the public is the ropd race which proved* very popular some years ago. Ine centre is to consider various proposals regarding the revival of this race, and it, is expected to receive support from members of football, swimming, rowing, and surfing clubs, as well as the liarner clubs.
