The constable of a country village wiw » particularly good-natured fellow. One day, however, he found it necetsary to lock up three tramps who hid strayed into his jurisdiction. Shortly after the arrest h« was met by the Mayor of the village, who, observing the constable harrying down the main street, asked: —
"Where are you going, constable?" "Oh," explained P.O. 49, "the three tramps I ye just locked up want to play whiet, and I'm out hunting for a fourth !"
