With the object of providing a safa seat for Sir 'A. G-rimtn-Boscawen, who was defeated by the Labour candidate at Dudley when seeking re-election as Minister of Agriculture, Lieutenant-Cblonel Dennis Holes has resigned the Taunton, seat. Mr. James Lunnon ;< ' organising secretary of the Agricultural Workers' Union, will oppose Sir Griffith-Boscawen.
[Tiie Dudley by-election, at which Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen was seeking reelection as Minister for Agriculture, resulted-: Mr. J. Wilson (Labour), 10,244; Bosrawen (Coalition-Unionist), 9968. Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen's refusal to- remove the embargo on Canadian and other overseas live cattle, which are important factors in this industrial consitutency, led to a piquant controversy with Lord Be&verbrook, who asserted that he would reduce the price of meat by sixpence.]
