The following children attending " the Petono, West School have nualifiod for swimming certificates issued by the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association: T-50yds: William Wyatt, Alfred Jones, Gilbert Simpson, Arthur Sharon, Connie Fillip, Vcnla Jacobson, Ruby Gibson, .Esther Hammond, Emily Kreyl, Phyllis Armstrong, Rene Philp, Agnes Stone, Una. Broughton. 100 yds: Arthur Foote, Kenneth Gough, Mvid Silberry, aiaurico! Chevin, Edith Pa rrant. 220vds: Edward Taylor, William Gibson, William Childs. 440 yds: Victor Mounlford. 1 mile: Ralph Love. Love's mile swim was an exceptionally Gne performance for so young a lad. He swam steadily throughout without changing his stroke,' and came out of the water looking in no_ wav exhausted. Half an hour after his swim he was playing in a cricket match on the recreation ground.
