HUMAN REMAINS FOUND
SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

TAIHAPE, 28th February. The remains of a man were found on the bank of the Hautapu River, halfway between Waiourn and Hihitahi. The man had probably been dead for about two months. No one has been reported missing. , v . - •■.,, The deceased was an elderly man. It is believed to be a case of suicide. He hud undressed, putting his clothing asiide. The lower part of the body was shattered as though death hud resulted from an explosion of gelignite. The clothing comprised a light grey sports cdatj medium grey trousers,- dark grey v<:st, old fawn overcoat, dark grey cap, and light watertight boots. In the coat pocket were two plugs of gelignite and two detonators. , An inquest was opened, and adjourned until gth March.
