TARANAKI EXPORTS
OVER £4,000,000 IN VALUE,
The value of the exports from Taranaki during the year ended 31et December, 1920, amounted to '£4,168,835, as compared -with £5,058,447 in 1919 and £2,656,754 in 1918,' says the Daily News. Th« total for 1918 was low because of lack of shipping, through which there was a great accumulation of produce in cold storage at the end of the year. The figures for 1919 were, as a further consequence, somewhat fictitious because most of that accumulation was shipped during the year. Perhaps the average of the two totals, or about £3,850,000, would fairly accurately. represent the annual production for export, in.which case the 1920 total shows a fair increase over previous years. Already this year produce to the value of over £850,000 has been shipped from .New Plymouth and Waitara, as compared with £380,623 worth in January and February, 1920, an increase of nearly £500,000, so that 1921 sWldshow a substantial advance upon the 1920 total.
