A Daily Chronicle representative who visited the establishment where the carpets wero on view wjis informed that, in view of the historical associations, £7500 was considered quite a reasonable price. "It is a. unique collection of princely carpets," said the manager, "and we are endeavouring- to dispose "of them en bloc, so that they will find a place in one of tho historic mansions of the country.
"If we arc unable to <k> co before the end of this month, each piece will be <lffer'ed separately on its merits." Owing- to tho fact that the particular pdae« from which they have been taken was seldom -used by the Tsar, the carpets ore in extremely good condition, and tho rich, rosy colour must be ac freah as when they.
