(Numerous cinema films of all sorts and sizes made their final public appearance yesterday afternoon. The destruction of a large quantity of discarded film on the reclaimed ground at Thorndon passed off without incident, but a number of "fallen stars," which were being dealt with at the Corporation destructor, did not behave so well. Some of the films became_ ignited before they could be thrown into the furnace, with the result that the room was set on fire, and before the flames could be extinguished by the fire brigade a considerable portion of the roof bad' been destroyed.
