A STOLEN SAPPHIRE
FRENCH DEALER ARRESTED.

The adventures of a unique deep blud sapphire, weighing 291 carate, are occupying the attention of the French police. The gem was an heirloom of the Polish family of Count Xa-viar Branicki. The Count carried the sapphire on, his person when. Warsaw was occupied in, July, -1918, until a pickpocket) stole it, and it seemed wholly lost. The French police traced it to a dealer, Feuschwangei, who bought it fox 185,000 francs from a Lithuanian dealeri Recognising the stone, which, had' been exhibited at' an international exhibition, Feuschwanger decided to cut it into nine stones, Hoping it would be üßrecognaaed', though the cutting reduced the weight to 135 carats. The police have now arrested Feuschwangea- and six ofcheTs, including the Lithuanian, and two eto-ne-. cutters.
