Veart, a lieutenanjb:in th*e 27th' Senior Cadet Company. Evidence was given that ifc was part of defendant's duty to advertise parades. When the accounts of the company "were'audited by C. G. Collins, the Government Audit Inspector, tfiafc officer found vouchers 1 for all payments, but one of them excited his suspicion. He consequently jinade inquiries about a receipt form showing £1 19s'6d had been paid at"the/Star office, and found that the" payment had been <imly 19s 63. He then inquired at the fierald office and found that a receipt ft)r a payment there of 15s had been similarly changed to £1 15s. Witness taxed defendant with'having.forged the ' receipts ;by the addition of £1 in'each ' edse, and defendant admitted it, stating iliat he had done it to make upsa; shortage in hisi'other"cash;' The prosecution was undertaken by the Audit Department, represented by Mr. V.
