Dr. H. W. Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, who has been in poor health since the middle of Decem-! ber, has returned to his home after a prolonged period in a private hospital.
A North Auckland storekeeper, says the New Zealand Herald, is to Joe 1 prosecuted by the Auckland Prices Investijjntion Tribunal for selling a' bag of sugar which he had in stock prior to the price of this commodity being fixed by the Board of Trade, at » rate equal to the new season's sugar. •
While safety-zone discs appear to be justified during the hours of the tramway service, the Auckland Taxi Owners' Association suggests that late ivt night they are a danger to drivers. The association has asked the Cifcv Council to make arrangements with the Police Department to have the discs removed nightly at: 11 o'clock, as they were of no use after "that hour. They could then be replaced early each morning. The matter was referred-to the Works Committee. ■
