HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. D. G., Sullivan (Avon) drew attention to statements made by the chairman of the Heathcote County that valuations were much below the prices at which land was being sold. He wished to know if the Prime Minister would give instructions to the Department that values should more nearly approach to market prices. The Prime Minister said it was evident that there had not been a revaluation of Heathcote County for some time, and that one was soon to be made. He could promise that landholders would have no reason to complain of the discrepancy between market and Government values. FROZEN MUTTON. Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton) called the Prime Minister's attention to a newspaper statement that the liner Runic had stopped loading her cargo of frozen meat because the carcases showed signs of mouldiness. The Prime Minister said that he had not the details of the matter, but Dr Rcakes had telegraphed to Christchurch for them, and when available they would be submitted. PRINTING TRADE AWARD. The Minister of Labour (Sir William Herries), in reply to Mr. E. J. Howard, said that the printing trade award would be issued to-morrow. (Proceeding.)
