PETONE GASWORKS
The coal position at the Petone Gasworks this morning was extremely acute. The last shovelful of coal on the premises had gone into the retorts before news arrived that a small consignment was coming to hand. At present there is only sufficient coal on hand for the requirements of the gasworks for the next twenty-four hours, but the manager has hopes that before then another small shipment will arrive. Lately the gasworks have hardly ever had more than a day's requirements of coal on hand.
