HIBERNIAN CONCERT
A very enjoyable concert was given at the Town Hall last night in aid of the Wellington Catholic Women's Hostel. The entertainment was under the auspices of the Hibernian Society, which had arranged an excellent programme, thei contributors including several winners at the recent Competitions. , St. Mary of the Angels' Choir was accorded a hearty reception. Under the direction of Mr. E. J. Healy the choir sang "0 God, Whose Almighty Power," from Handel's "Judas Maccabaeus" and "Daybreak,'' the latter being the choir's own selection number which was so heartily commended when given at the Competitions. The Hibernian Irish War Pipe Band made its first public appearance, and ite selections were enthusiastically received. Master Winston M'Carthy, who is a juvenile Harry Lauder, sang several Lauder numbers, and "Uassidy the V.0." His popularity was again evidenced. Misses Jean and Thelma M'Kenzie, Willie Brown, and David Thomas contributed dances, and all were in good form. The other artists included Mr. Will Goudie, Mr. Kevin Dillon, Masters John and Cecil Watters, Mr. Whitehouse (cornet soli), and the Marist Brothers 5 .9ch00l choir (Thomdon). Mrs. Emerson acted as accompanist. As the attendance was large the aim of ■the promoters was successful.
