COMMITTEE'S REPORT
ANNOUNCEMENT THIS AFTERN.OON. The report of the Parliamentary Butter Prices Committee will be submitted to' the House of Representatives thia afternoon. The Committee held its last meeting this morning.. It is understood that the price recommended for the commodity in New Zealand will not be leas than 2s 3d per lb for cash, with an increase of 2d or 2£d for booking _ and delivery. The difference between the fixed price and the overseas figure which the' producers would otherwise obtain will be returned in the form of a subsidy, paid from the Consolidated Fund. This should involve a sum of not more than three-quarters of a million sterling.
The report of the Committee is being awaited with the keenest interest by members of the House, and, since it will probably not be submitted until fairly late in the afternoon owing to priority of other business, it is expected that a request will be made to have the discussion of it prolonged into the evening sitting. ■■
