/Members of the House of Representatives were tired when they met last) night, but they wens more tired before they finished. Two new Bills were introduced, Animals Protection Amendment and Hospital and Charitable Institutions Amendment: Further arffiendirients were sxibmitt&d for consideration with the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill. Disoussion on these largely t6ok tb» form of a duplication of the second reading debate. Some members were not too tired to repeat what they tad said previously. Those that listened ■were tirecL Little new matter was introduced in the debate. The Cornrnittea stage was reached about midnight.- The Bill passed Committee without important amendments, beyond those proposed by the Government. The Leader of the Opposition divided the House on the proposal to exempt from the absentee tax persons who axe absent on account of illness, and receive not more than £300 ai year. The clause was earned by 37 to 9: On the third reading, the Leader* of the Opposition departed from his usual custom, and s.poke—to record mainly the fact that the Bill had been largely amended since its introduction. The Erime ..Minister replied', and the House cheerfully assented, when at 1 o'clock, the Bill having passed, the Prime Minister proposed tihe adjournment.
