NEW YORK,'l2th October. Night riders are spreading terror in the. cotton SJtates. They are mostly farmers who are bitterly disappointed at the present price of the cotton crop and are determined that no cotton shall be ginned (stripped from the seed) until the price has advanced to forty cents per pound. Picked companies sally forth posting threatening notices at ginneries and cotton fields. The. negroes are so terrified that it is almost impossible to get them to remain in the cotton fields.
