During the month of\ September the coal exported From Westport amounted to 42.873 tons 19cwt, a total made up as follows: Westport Coal Company, Ltd., 23,154 tons 12cwt: West-port-Stockton Coal Company, Ltd., 13.081 tons lßcwfc; Coal Creek Mining Party, 1033 tons Bcwt; Seddonville 'Mining Party. 453 tons loewt. The Lyttelton superintendent of mercantile marine has been advised by the Marine Department that the master of tha ferry steamer Maori reported passing a large conical iron buoy adrift on (the 6th Ootober, in position Cape Campbell bearing S. 7Sdeg. W., Terawhitfl Jf. lSdeg. W., 5 Pencarrow Lighthouse N. 18deg. E. All bearings are magnetic.

The well-known liner Indarra, which for many years ran in the Australian inter-State trade, now flies the Belgian flag, under the name of Payß de Waes. The vessel was requisitioned for trooping during the War, and on her return to Sydney was handed over to the Orient Mail Line. She was recently purchased by the Lloyd Boyal Beige.
