NEW ZEALAND RIFLE TEAM
LEAVES FOR SYDNEY ON THURSDAY.
A "send off" arranged by the executive of the New Zealand Rifle Clnba will be given at the Grand Hotel to-mbrrpw afternoon at 4 o'clock to Major Dunne and 1 the members of the New Zealand rifle team, who will leave by the Moana for Sydney on Thrusday. The Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey), Sir Heaton Rhodes (Minister of Defence), members of Parliament, the Mayor of Wellington, (Mr. J. V. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.), Brigadier - General Richardson (General Officer in charge of Administration), and others have been invited to be present. Members of the team will compete first at the New South Wales meeting, which opens on 22nd October, arid then at the Victorian meeting opening on 6th November. At the latter, they will participate in the Empire, Rifle Match, with the British and Australian teams. Tho local men in the team shot brilliantly on Saturday, Guiney, making 10i out of 105. and Barkle 96 out of 100 at 500 and 600 yards. It is reasonably expected that the team will put up a ;;ood performance in Australia.
