COAL AND A CORRECTION
In opposing tiie increase in totalisator permits proposed in the Gaming Amendment lii'l! before, the House of Representatives last evening, Mr. J. M'Comba contrasted the allocation of coal for this Avondale race trains, recently, with the dearth, of it in Auckland. Even the Auckland Hospital had been without coal. Mr. J. A. Wash : "Why were they short of coal '!" Mr. Holland : "Because the bosses wanted the men to join a different union." Air. M'Cqik'os : "I would say the people here are short of coal because there am not sufficient ships to bring it from Australia. Never at any period in the history of New Zealand were tho coalminers able to produce- all the coal required." l-iater in the- evening, Mr. Iv). J. Savage-, a colleague of Mr M'Combs, corrected that, member's statement thai tho Auckland Hospital had been withoutcoul. He was a member of the board, and Mr. '.Al'Combs ha-d wade an incorrect statement,
