RETURNED SOLDIERS' BAND

An enthusiastic meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Band was held in the clubroom. The band membership has reached thirty, and the band is" to be augmented by. an orchestra. There' is to be.a reunion of N.Z.E.F. bandsmen at an early date. Thanks are due to the efforts of Colonel. &. Pere, general secretary of N.Z.R.S.A., and Mr. B. A. Blackbee, secretary and organiser of the band. The Memorial Band is the first of ite kind'in New Zealand, and will beavailable for philanthropic purposes. Mr. Blackbee has been approached with the congratulations and support of a number of prominent people of the district. It has been foimed as a- tribute to the honour of brave comrades and the great reputation of theN Z.E.F. There is good talent among the members of the band, several having gained distinction abroad as players.
