GOODS FOR SAMOA
LATE ENEMY MANUFACTURERS.
Under the provisions of the Samoa. Customs Order, merchants who forward goods to Western Samoa of German or Austrian manufacture are required to obtain a license from the Minister of Customs before the goods can be sent to the mandated territory.
The Minister of" External Affaire (the Hon. E. P. Lee) stated to-day that recently a shipment of mouldings of German origin had been forwarded by a. New Zealand house to a customer in Samoa. These , mouldings were held up by the authorities in Samoa pending inquiries which revealed that the mouldings had apparently been in stock in New Zealand for a considerable period, and the Administration therefore permitted them to be landed. "It will be well," stated the. Minister, "for New Zealand merchants to remember that it is necessary to procure from the Minister of Customs a license with respect to any German or Austrian goods which they may wish to send to their customers in Samoa."
