It is understood that with .a view to raising revenue, the Governrft^nt will increase the harbour dues, the income tax, and the tax on companies. It is proposed to raise the sStamp duty from a penny to twopence, and the stamp duty on promissory notes from sixpence to a shilling, and to collect the broken totalisator money under a shilling for ten shilling bets, and under sixpence' for five shilling bets, together with a tax on ad-> mission tickets to racecourses. From these sources the Government expects to receive £2,772,000.
