WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER.,
•Representatives of tie Wait&ki High School Board of Governors waited upon the Minister of Education this morning, and asked for assistance in rebuilding the cla&s-rooms and the laboratory recently destroyed b» fire. Help was also lpquired in connection "with the equipment of the laboratory. The Hon. O. J. Parr, in replying, said he felt that the Government was committed to giving reasonable assistance in re-establishing the building, and he would lose no time in placing the request for a grant of £7000 before Cabinet. The equipping of the laboratory would be a costly matter, but, subject, to the application being submitted in detail for the criticism of the Department, tine Government would help. Incidentally the Minister referred to the low insurance on the building, and said the loss at Waitaki should b© a lesson to all boards. He intended to make representations to the various boards in regard to that matter.
