BIG GERMAN NOTE SWINDLE

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—CSPYRIOHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 3rd October. The Daily Chronicle's Bierlin correspondent states that an extraordinary swindle was spoilt by the Port Authority of Straulang and Warnemunde. Officials, boarded a motor yacht, which called at Warnemunde through an accident to her machinery, and discovered cases containing notes of the nominal value of 37,500,000 marks, printed by Colonel Betmont when leading the" Germans against the Bolsheviks in the Baltio Provinces last year. Owing to the failure of the expedition the issued marks were sent to the Baltic Provinces for circulation. The chief plotters, Dr. Baitmann and his nephew, have been arrested. Letters seized mention numerous high/ officials as accomplices.
