While reports from many quarters indicate the tendency of prices of food, clothing, and other domestic commodities to diminish slightly, this is more than counterbalanced, says the Pall Mall Gazette, by the sudden rise in the cost of public services, such as gas, electricity, railway and other fares, house rents, arid taxes.
