SYDNEY, 4th October. The barquentine Southern Cross, which is concluded to have been destroyed by the explosion of her deck cargo of benzine, has been posted as a total loss. The fat© of the crew remains unsolved.
The steamer Melbourne unsuccessfully continued the search for the schooner Amelia J over the week-end.
