A five-mile cross-country championship was hold .by the Brooklyn Harriere at Miramar under ideal conditions on Saturday, a largo number of spectators being present to witness the event. Mr. Briston acted as starter, with Mr. Todd timekeeper and Mr. Harvey judge. Unfortunately R. Bell did not compete. Nevertheless a great race resulted, Burk. Todd, Dentico, and Sherwood fighting out every inch of the race. Following are the results:—D. Todd 1, W. Burk 2, G. Sherwood 3. Time, 29mm 46seo. A sealed handicap was run in connection with Saturday's race, and provided a close finish, a few seconds only separating quite a number of runners. Result: G Sherwood (lmin 3560 c} '1, F.
