RANFURLY SHIELD GAME
PROBABLE AUCKLAND TEAM.
Great interest is being taken not only in Wellington, but in Auckland also, in the meeting of the representative teams in the match for the ](t*nfurly Shield at Athletic Park on Saturday. The Wellington team has already been published, and the probable Auckland team is given in the following letter from a member of the Auckland Union to a football enthusiast here :—"Our team will probably be : Full-back, O'Brien; three-quarters^ Wilson, V. Badeley, and Nicholson; five-eighths, Griereon and C. Badeley y half, Ross; wing-forward, Singe; forwards,. Lomas, Campbell, Alexander, Moore, Hayward, and Arnold. On paper the appears to be superior all round to the fifteen we played you with in Auckland. O'Brien, Wilson, and C. Badeley are the All-Blacks who accompanied the New Zealand team to Australia thie year. Grierson and Boss have played in Wellington before, and are no doubt known to you. V. Badeley is a younger brother of C. Badeley, and is classed here by many experts as the best centre three-quarter in New Zealand. He did not play against your 'rape.' here, being down with 'flu at the time. Singe is known ac the wingforward who made a big name in England with the Services team. Of the forwards, Lomas, Alexander, and Hamilton were members of the Mounted Rifles team which visited England. Arnold played in the "B! Services team. Hayward is a brother of 'Circus' Hayward, who represented New Zealand in 1908. Moore and Campbell have not previously played for our reps."
