LONDON WOOL SALES.
"Hie Bank of New Zealand has received the.following advice from its London office - under date 25fch inst.:—"The sales have opened with moderate competition and large attendance .of buyers. The.market is strong for super merino and fine crossbred, and prices are higher from 5 per cent, to 7J per cent. The market shows no change for inferior merino and mcd* ium crossbred. There is practically no demand
Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, report hiving received the following cablegram from thsir London house, under date of tho 24th instant:—"Wool sales opened. Attendance of buyers is large, and competition animated. There is a better demand-generally, and good selection. As compared with last sales' closing rates merino wools, greasy, 64's and above, 5 per cent, to 7^ per cent, higher; merino wools of other/descriptions unchanged. Crossbred ■wools, fine quality greasy, par to 5 per cent, liigher; crossbred wools, medium quality, greasy, unchanged; crossbred wools, coarse, greasy, neglected; crossbred wools, scoured, neglected; fine slipe wools, crossbred, unchanged, and medium and inferior qualities, slipe wools, crossbred, 5 per cent, lower." The New Zealand Loan and MercantileAgency Compan, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from its London house, under date 24tb instant:—"London wool sales opened today. As compared with last sales*.; closing rates, prices- are-higher-by about 5 per cent., to 7J per cent, for merino-; about 5 per cent, for fine crossbred, and abont. tlie same for coarse and medium crossbred."
The New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company. Ltd., reports having received the following cable from 1 its -London agents':—"Wool sales opened .on .the, 21tli. Aug-ust.-.-Best quality merino, B per cent. to7J per cent, dearer; fine crossbred rathor dearer; medium crossbred, fair demand, unchanged prioes; cfiarse neglected; better Continental competition." . The Department of-Agriculture has received the following cablegram,' dated 26th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand," London: —"Fifteenth series Government ■wool sales commenced last night with large attendanoe. Competition more general, especially from Continent, than for several months past. Compared with closing rates last London Buries, prices foi merinos, fine, 5 per cent, to 7J per cent, dearer; other description uncnansed; crossbredn, fine, par to 6 per cant, dearer; medium, unchanged; coarse neglected, and. Urgels
■withdrawn; 90,000 bales- shorn wools available for series, of -which 18,000 "are New: Zealand, No description salesduring this series."
