.'The report of the N.Z. Academy of.' Fine Arts shows a new membership of 20 artists and 93 subscribers. Tho year closed,with•396 subscribers and 111 artiste. Sales at the annual and sketch, •oxhiibitions totalled £844 Ss 6d'. Members,subscribed'£6o 15e to' supplement funds required for the purchase of works to be added- to the permanent collectioa. A further grant of £100 from tie TV G. Maearthy trustees Is acknowledged,, also a donation of £50 from tho City Counciil and a bequest o£ £100 under the will of the, Jato Mr. W. S. Reid. There was ,a loss of Is" only on the sketch exhibition. Purchases of works By Harley Griffiths,' W. A. Bowring, the la-t-o E.G. Hood, and R: Cleaver, and presentations by Ml. W B Matheson (lithograph by Muirhead Bone), and Mr. W. H. Booth ('.'The Favourite" by M. .E. Tripe) aro .acknowledged 1. Thero were bequests made, too, by the late Dr. Kington Fyffe of a bae-Telief by Ffampton of "Sf. Christina" and a piinting of "Wellington Harbour" by J. M: Nairn. Loans were made to the gallery by Mrs.-Walter Johnson, Mr. T. G Mason, and Mrs. W. H. Crmckshank..' Mr. T. S. Weston, president, >gave £5 and Mr. I}'. Brabin a gold medal for students' competitions.
