STOP-WORK MEETINGS ON MONDAY.

lit TEIXSSUra.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GBEYMOUTH, 26th. August. The State 'Miners' Union met at Runanga to-night to consider the disputes 'existing 'at the Ta-ratu, . Green Island, and Mataura, mines. It expressed "regret that the Government did not bring pressure to bear on the coal owners at the respective places to have them adhero to last February's national agreement, as the Miners' Federation executive has endeavoured to persuade them to do." It was decided, in view of the failure to move in the direction indicated, that on Monday at 10 ajm. a stopwork meeting''of the union 'ba held to discuss what action., should be taken.-

It is understood that all the 'other coal miners' unions in the Dominion will do likewise, and that the meetings may have a far-reaching effect.
