PRICE OF COAL INCREASED
With th^e sanction of the Board of\ Trade there has been an increase of Is per ton at the pit-mouth in the price of coal produced in the northern mines. This increase takes effect from Ist, September, and'applies to all ', grades, including household coal. However, it is unlikely that the. cost to the domestic consumer will be increased. The least possible increase would be Id per'cwt, which would recoup the dealer to the extent of .Is Bd' per ton.,:'" Dealers may decide not to pass on the increase. ■■' . i There has also been an 1 increase in the price of Westport coal, brought about, it is said, by the rapidly jumping costs of production. In the case of the Westport Goal Company, however, the . increase does not apply to household coal.
