SYDNEY, This Day_. ■ A message from Sydney states that with the return of Mr. Bryant, late Director of Soldiers' Settlements, who was recalled from London, a Royal Commission hae commenced an inquiry into the - administration under- Mr. Bryant. The evidence so far taken indicates alleged maladministration of funds under a. certain bonus system and Iti other directions. One witness .gave evidence that, acting under Bryant's' instructions, ho supervised repairs to the residence of Mr. Ashford, then Minister -Of Laads, of whose Department the soldiers' settlements is a branch. The repairs cost £750. \
