FURS AND CLOTHING STOLEN.
1 •■—-• \ Sorao hours wore occupied at the Magistrate'sV Court- on Wednesday by the hearing of tho caso against William Banks; ■aliaa Wright, who was oharged with having broken and entered the premises of Leslie Walter M'Quff in July, 1919. and stolen SCO blouses ' and two, silk skirts, of the value of £203 10s, and also with having broken into the premises of Mathewson's. Ltd., and stolen 11 fox necklets, 25 blouses, 3 sports coats,' and 7 skirts, of a total value. o£ £214 3s. The accused,' for whom Mr. O. A. L. Treadwell appeared, did not deny hi 3 guilt, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Isabella Cousins was oharged with having received certain of the stolen floods, 29 blouses and two fur necklets, of the value of £33 18s, from Banks. She 1 stated that she had been living with Banks for about tun years, and when he brought the articles home and said that he had bought them at a. warehouse she had no reason to doubt his statement. Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., said th»t had the woman been married' to Banks there would have been no case against her. There wore many suspicious circumstances about the' transaction, but taking all of them into consideration, including tho fact ■that the female accused is to go before tho Supreme Court for sentence on a. charge of forgery, he would give her the benefit of • the doubt, and would dismiss the'information. ■ Charges of breaking and entering, identical with those laid against Banks, have also been preferred against John Henry Morgan, and 1 evidence' regarding; that prosecution is to bo heard this afternoon. '
