NEW ZEALAND COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of. tha New Zealand Rugby Union met last evening, Mr. G W. Skde presiding. Mention being made of the recent death in Tarajiaki of Mrs. M'Leod, wife of the president of the New Zealand Rugby' Union, it -was decided to forward a lettei; of sympathy' to Mr. James M'Leod in his sad bereavement. A wreath had been sent by the union. Information was received from the central secretary in Sydney confirming the cable message regarding the amended rules agreed to by the English Union, but conaidei-ation of the matter was dSfc ferred until.next meeting. Among correspondence relating to tlie Moascar Cup competition, a letter was received in reply, to the New Zealand Union's advice that the' Maori Agricultural College was- ineligible to play in the competition. The college committee requested that the decision be reconsidered, on the grounds that the school was to all intents and purposes aj secondary school, that it had proved itself one of the most ardent suppoi'ters of •the Rugby ■ code, and that ft woilld look upon its exclusion as most unfair treatment. The letter was'forwarded by the Hastings sub-union through the Ha-wkes Bay Union. It was decided to adhere to the previous decision. Advice was received that the New South Wales Rugby Union had invited the South African Union to play five matches in New South Wales next eeason on the way to New Zealand. Notification was received that Mr. W. 'T. Parata had been elected; president of the Bay of Plenty Union. • A request, for advice as to the amendr ments of the Laws of the Game, sanctioned by the English Rusby Union wse received, from the New, Zeahnd Rugby Referees' Association. The matte"'" was deferred until receipt of further particulars which are expected to be brought by the manager, of the New Zealand team. An application was made, by the Petono Club, through the Wellington Union, for the removal of tho suspension pla-ced on.Smilie, a member of the club. .The Wellington Union forwarded a recommendation. It was decided to ask the Wellington Union for details ot ths case prior to making a decision.
