MURDER CHARGE REDUCED TO MANSLAUGHTER

AUCKLAND, 10th August. A charge of murdering Douglas Piripi, or Phillips, at Mokau, which was made against a Maori named Wiremu Peta, was. reduced to one of manslaughter by the Grand; Jury at the criminal,sessions of the Supreme Court. His Honour, in reviewing the case, said that accused's story was that Piripi and he got - into grips, Piripi attempted to throttle him, and during the struggle the gun, \vhich belonged to Piripi, .wait ftfiL
