Advices from Beirut state that in consequence of the Shereefian regular troops attacking a small French garrison holding the pass from Chomh, en rpute {<> Tripoli, the French decided to occupy ■ Damascus, the advance, iipon which had been suspended conditionally npon the French forces not being attacked, 'The French, after a long fight, routed the Emir Feisul's forces in the mountains between _th Plains of Bokaa and Damascus, capturing nine guns and considerable equipment, Feisul's War Minister was among the killed. The French, whose losses were elight, subsequently occupied Damascus.
