Henry James Day, a second offending inebriate, was fined the amount of his bail (20s). ,
Archibald M'Naughton was convicted on charges of drunkenness and breaking his prohibition order on two occasions, and was given the .option of paying fines amounting to £6 or going to gaol for 11 days. . . .
Ernest Thomas James Bray, who had committed an indecent act in Sydneyrtreet, was given the option of paying a fine, of £1, or going to gaol for 24 hours. William Matthews was convicted of ; a similar offence, and of a second offonce of drunkenness, and was ordered 1 to pay fines amounting to 30s. • -."' A young man iiamed Alfred Frank Tyroe admittd having stolen two glasses, valued at 3s sd, from tho' Caledonian Hotel, and was. ordered to pay a fine of £3 or to go to gaol for seven days. John O'Dohoghue, charged with a lileo offence, pleaded, not guilty, and was remanded to appear on Friday. (Proceeding.) Tho Mount Cook police had a somewhat busy week-end with drunks, und Mr. R. D. Hanlon, J.P.. was called upon to deal with no fewer-than ten offenders at this morning's sittiiiu: of the. Mount Cook Polico Court. ' Five first offenders, who ]iad been relcasedon bail and failed", to. ]iut in an appearance at court, each had to forfeit the. amount of bail, 10s; an-, other first offender was convicted and 1 dischars;ed; Alexander Scrimegour, for a third offence, was fined • £2. with tho alternative of eeven days' imprisonment; Henry Richard Balding,. a. sixth appearance 'within MX' .months, was. 5ent...t0...ga01,,, for three months; and two "Sunday drunks" were each fined 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
