MARRIED TO A CHAUFFEUR.

<«MTI» nil) ASSOCIATION.—WTBIOBT.)

UUBTftAIUN - NEW ZEAMNP CABIB ASSOCIATION.) ZURICH, 24th July.

An amazing Boyal romance has been disclosed in connection with Princess Alexander (the daughter of Pi-inca Frederick of Schleswig-Holatein), whom Prince August, the\^aiser's fourth son, recently divorced. The Princess in now married to a chauffeur, declaring that it is better to be the loved wife of a chauffeur than the unloved wife of a Royal prince. The chanfleur, who. is named Fritz Meyer, wore the ex-Kaiser's livery before the war, and was driving the Royal motor-car when the romance began. He served as a lientenant during the war, and was the "officer of common tastes and democratic name" whom August cited in the divorce proceedings. The couple are now honeymooning, while August is employed as a bank- clerk in Benin. It is difficult to Know how Meyer will support his wife, as she has extravagant tastes, and was once imprisoned for a fortnight iv the Gothic Hound Tower, at Castle Eabelsberg, by the ex-Kaiser as a punishment for overspending. She is a statuesque blonde, with red hair and a ruddy complexion, and is the personification of a typical German heroine. Her only child of seven years lives with the ex-Crown Princess Cecilia.
