The Anfu cause has collapsed, and its news agencies and newspapers are liquidating.' Many of its leaders Ijave sought refuge in the homes of foreign friends. The debacle is complete. Tha ex-Premier, Ohin-yung-seng, is at present in Tientsin with a view to settling the peace terms, General Tuan-qhi-jui, overcome by despondency, attempted suicide, His bodyguards prevented him ■ carrying out his intention. While the fighting about ; Pekin has ceased, the troops at Seng-tien are continuing thejr advance on Pekin, Chang-tso-liu's troops a,ve approaching Pekin. Two brigades have reached; Nan-yuan, where they took over tha quarters of the Anfu Fifteenth Division', The reason for the advance on Pekin is to secure complete disarming of the frontier defences.
