INCREASED CHAEGES.
It is announced by the PostmasterGeneral that the follo^ring alterations of postage and telegraph charger will come into force on Ist August:— Letters and Letter-cards.—lnland: Increased from' l£d for 4oz to 2d for 2oz. Australia, ' United Kingdom, United States, and certain other countries : From, lid to 2d. Postcards.—lnland : Increased from Id to lid. : Late Fee.—lncreased from Id to 2d. Packets . (comprising commercial papers, books, and printed papers, pattern > and sample packets, and unregistered magazines).—lnland: From' Id for first 2oz, and id for each additional 2oz to lid for each,4os up to lib. Registered Magazines.—lnland, Australia-, Fiji, and certain island? in Pacific : New rates —2d for each copy if not exceeding Boz, and 2d for each additional 8oz; oi fraction thereof.
Newspapers.—lnland : Increased from id to Id.
Registration Fee.—lncreased from 2d to 3d.
Inland Parcel*.—From 4£d to 6d for first pound.
Fee for Insurance of Parcels.—lnland : From 2d to 3d for up to £2. Private Letter-boxes.; —Rental : From £1 to £1 iOs per annum. Private Mail-bags.—Rental: From £2 to £2 10s per annum. . .
Money-orders.—New rates by post payable in New Zealand : Id for each £1. with minimum of 6d. Payable beyond New Zealand, except in Australia, United States of America or Canada: 6d for each £1. Payable in United States of America and Canada: Sd for each 2s. New rates by telegraph :.- Payable' in New Zealantf, same as by post, plus a telegraph fee of Is 6d if order sent by ordinary telegram, or 5s if sent by urgent telegram. Payable in United Kingdom : Same as by post, plus cabling fee. .
Domestic Orders.—Each -order 9d, including delivery fee. Postal Notes.—New commission rates : Up to 2s 6d, Id; 3s to 15s, 2d; 205.,3 d.
Telegrams.—lnland: New ratesWeek days (other thar public holidays), ,1s for first 12 words, and Id for each additional word, for ordinary telegrams; double these rate 3 for urgent telegram's. Sundays and public holidays, double the rates for week days. y Registration of Code Addresses,—Fee , increased from 10f to £1 per annum.
The amendment of the- charges for telephone bureau communications and for telephone exchange connections will be announced later.
