CHILD WELFARE

STAFF OF NEW DEPARTMENT.

The -Minister of Public Health (the Hon. C. J. Parr)'ia now in a position to make a definite statement in regard to the new Department of Child Welfare, which he has indicated recently he hoped to establish. Mr. Parr says that it .has been arranged definitely that Dr. Truby King will, for the next few years, go from the Mental Hospital Department to tho Public Health Department to take charge, as Director, of the Department of Child Welfare. He will probably be assisted by Dr. Blair, at present his assistant at Seacliff, and by Nurse Patrick. The school medical and dental officers will be incorporated with the new Department under the general directorship of Dr. King, who will also oversee the activities of the Plunket Society.
