The race resulted in the most exciting struggle in the straight. Charlebelle and Cinna alternately leading. By a magnificent effort Whalley landed the former a winner by a neck. The judge's verdict settled thousands of after-post wagers. The King and Queen and Princess ' Mary were present and witnessed the race.
