TRINITY CHURCH, WELLINGTON SOUTH

The forty-eighth anniversary celebrations in connection with Trinity Church, Wellington South, were concluded on Wednesday evening, when the Rev. E. Drake presided over the meeting. The report, read by Mr. A. Martin, in the absence of the secretary, Mr. L. G. Ciiisholm, showed the church to be doing goo:i work. Membership showed 209, an increase of 10. Congregations had been v:cll maintained, and the Sunday School had worked satisfactorily, 244 'scholars and 25 teachera beiii£ on the roll. Tiefercuce was made to the Young Worshippers' League, and to tha Junior C. K. Society. SympaLhy was expressed with the relatives of the late Air. T. Sims and Mr. Chegwin, tiie "former being Superintendent of the Sunday School, and the latter an honoured and respected trustee of the'church. Appreciation of the. work' of the choir was expressed— ISiv. J. W. Buchanan,, the choirmaster, and i.Tr. C. Howe, the organist, being thaviKed for their services. Special menlion was also made of Mrs. Webb, who, as organist, and» in other capacities, Jias placed the church under great obligation. It was stated that n residence had been purchased for the minister, at a, cost of £1200, and that strenuous efforts -were being made to reduce the debt thereon. The total income for general purposes was £582 14* Ad, and for the property account £605 6s 2d, making a total of £1138 0s 6d; £62 14s 9d had been raised for Foreign rind £35 for Home Missions. Mrs. Halkuie, Miss I. . Baillie, ahd Messrs. Graham, Porter, Quant-, and Baker, contributed to the musical programme, and addresses were delivered by tl! B Revs. H..E. Br.llhouw and J. Ward. Two glees were also rendered by the choir. Tiie accompanist was Mr. C. Howe. .Jt the clofe. refreshments were dispensed by the ladies of the congretion.
