Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Daniel Tael was convicted on charges of drunkenness and having committed an indecent act, and waa ordered to pay fines amounting to £5 5s or to go to gaol for fifteen days. , ' . •, James Robertson was fined £2 for drunkenness and £4 for. having broken his prohibition order. If the fines are not paid he must go to gaol for four weeks. Archibald West was convicted as a rogue and vagabond, and was sent to gaol for six months. Daniel Andrew Williams was remanded for a week upon; a charge of having stolen aii overcoat from William W. Squires. M. Crowley and J. Shanahan, who had created a disturbance in Ghuznee-street, were each fined £1 with 5s 6d costs. Edward. M'Kean was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon within twelve months on a I charge of having assaulted Archibald Cooper. . - For failing to attend Territorial parades,. W. L. E. Cording was fined 10s. and costs. F. H. Brown was convicted and discharged for a similar offence. (Proceeding.) ■. Five cases of drunkenness were dealt with at a sitting of the Mount Cook Police Court to-day. Four of the persons charged were first-offenders. Two who had been admitted to bail and did not reappear, were each fined 10&, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, and the two others were convicted and discharged. A second offender was ordered to' pay 10s or go to gaol for 48 hours. ' Mr. W. H. Coy, J.P., was on the Bench.
