I Reserved judgment in the case of Mrs. Alfchea Lock against Miss J. K. Leahy and R. B. T. Richardson and Co.", land agents, was given in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. Plaintiff claimed to recover the sum of £25 paid, to Richardson and Co. as deposit on the sale and purchase of a freehold property in Wellington, the allegation being that the contract was not proceeded with, as Miss Leahy was unable to carry out the terms. The Magistrate non-suited plaintiff because of the facts that the agreement was ndt stamped 1, and the Court had no jurisdiction, as the question of rescission of "the contract was involved. Costs totalling £2 2s were allowed the defendants. Mr. D. M. Findlay appeared for the plaintiff, Mr. J., Scott for Miss Leahy, and Mr. E. P. Bunny for Richardson and 'Co.
Mr.' W. Newton (Conciliation Commissioner) proceeds to Christchurch tonight, en route to Greymouth. to preside at a sitting of the typographical dispute. He subsequently will visit Blenheim and Nelson in connection with industrial disputes."
